Best Spots to Watch Fireworks in Minneapolis

If fireworks are your focus, Minneapolis offers several fantastic viewing locations. The Stone Arch Bridge is under construction for the 2025 season. While it his historically one of the best places to catch fireworks. The city is restoring this historic landmark, and it will remain closed until the fall of 2025. That does not mean that it is the ONLY place to watch the fireworks.

For a more laid-back experience, Gold Medal Park is an excellent choice. Spread out a blanket on the grassy hill and enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed setting.

Other notable viewing locations include Nicollet Island, a serene green space ideal for families, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, which offers phenomenal views and quick access to nearby downtown attractions.

One of the best spots to watch fireworks is from the Rooftop of the Sable Luxury Condos. Consider booking your MINNeSTAY at one of our many options in the building and enjoy the show in style.

For another VIP option for viewing fireworks you may want to consider visiting the Mill City Museum, where you can watch the fireworks from its observation deck. Keep in mind that this requires a ticket to access.

Explore Beyond Downtown Minneapolis

Beyond the city center, the surrounding Twin Cities suburbs host their own 4th of July celebrations. For a lakeside experience, head to Lake Minnetonka, where fireworks light up the water in a truly magical display. In Shakopee, Valleyfair Amusement Park offers an evening of fun rides followed by fireworks (admission required). For history buffs, Historic Fort Snelling provides a unique celebration featuring mock battles, fife and drum music, and cannon demonstrations.

On July 3rd, do not miss Bloomington Summer Fete at Normandale Lake Park. This family-friendly event includes a carnival, food trucks, live music, and a dazzling fireworks display at dusk. Helpful Tips for a Stress-Free Weekend

To make the most of your 4th of July weekend in Minneapolis, make sure you plan ahead. Arrive early to popular spots like the Stone Arch Bridge or Gold Medal Park to secure the best views. Parking can be challenging, so consider using ramps like the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, Gateway Ramp, or Stadium Ramp for convenience. Or take the Metro Transit to avoid the parking dilemma all together.

If you pick a pet friendly vacation rental, keep in mind that fireworks can be stressful for animals. You may want to put them in a lower level of your vacation rental. If you bring them to an event, be sure to keep your dog leashed and close by with their identification in case they run. An unfamiliar environment can be exciting to our four-legged friends and with all that excitement they may not know how to get back to you.
